La//kvlkd @ Le Baron, Paris

Monday Night is concert night at Le Baron. Some new artist present themselves in a small, one-hour concert with a following after-party. And all this for free.

La//kvlkd @ Le Baron

Yesterday, La//kvlkd had a small gig, and I quite enjoyed their performance. The band is French, but they sing in English. Their songs are somehow very relaxing, but go straight into your head.

Check it out yourself 🙂

P.S. If somebody knows how to pronounce their name, please let me know!

Sunday Tunes…

My most played songs du jour…Enjoy!

Jewrhythmics – Hava Nagila -> I can’t find the song on youtube, but short preview available on http://www.jewrhythmics.com/, full version on iTunes

P.S. Im shocked to see (and hear) that Gotye´s Somebody that I used to know followed me from Berlin to Paris…. Please make it stop!

Venice Carnival 2012 – La vita è teatro. Tutti in maschera!

I just came back from a trip to Venice…. and I absofuckinglutely loved it! What a beautiful and romantic city, even though the city was so crowded due to the Carnival. Who could not love this city (well, actually it is 120 islands)?!

During the days we spent our time wandering the city, people-watching, shopping (I found some great leather gloves there – great quality for a small price). At night the carnival crowd was still celebrating in the streets, but me and my friend decided to check out bars in Venice.

My personal recommendation: Skyline Bar in the Hilton Molino Stucky Hotel

Hilton Molino Stucky Rooftop Pool Hilton Molino Stucky Rooftop bar "Skyline"

From San Marco Harbor the Hilton shuttle boat takes you in 15 min to the hotel – for free. What you can expect is the best view on Venice from the rooftop bar, very friendly bar personal and delicious cocktails using fresh and seasonal fruits only. I had a Japanese Garden (lychee liquor, fresh raspberry juice and vodka)…just great. On Saturday nights there is a DJ and some party going on. So all in ala definite must for Venice! And from May-September you can enjoy this view from the pool on the rooftop….WOW!

After that, me and my friend wanted to go to another bar (either the bar in the Metropolitan Hotel or the one in The Bauers), but bars there close early (latest 2 a.m.) and fairies don´t go at night, so my weekend was quite calm and I only got to see this one bar. We spent the rest of the time eating Pasta, Pizza and drinking Prosecco Aperol (for incredibly low prices. Venice is nothing compared to Milan, Paris etc…another plus!).

So here are some impressions from Venice 🙂

Sunday Tunes…..

I just discovered this great French alternative pop band “General Elektriks”. Their album is just packed with good tunes! Today you can see them live in Paris in Nouveau Casino (109 Rue Oberkampf, 75011 Paris), though tickets are already sold out.

If you belong to the lucky ones who still got tickets, enjoy your night! For the others I picked some of my favorite tracks du jour…

-5° C, Sun is shining…Winter in Paris

So I didn’t see this coming anymore… December was rainy and around 10° C in Paris and I thought I will have to wait until next year to see Paris in winter…. but there he is, more beautiful than expected! Parisian people seem to be quite overwhelmed with these temperatures (they might drop to -10° C next week… and it might be snowing!!!) but I really enjoy it.

This week-end, I plan to go to the big vide-dressing event Violette Sauvage ( 74 bld Richard Lenoir XIème) and I hope I can satisfy my passion for fashion there!

On sunday, I will try out a new, American-style brunch location, which is supposed to be famous for their cakes and which was also recommended by David Lebovitz:

Merce and the Muse in the 3rd arrondissement ( 1bis rue Charles-Francois Dupuis; 75003 Paris)

My experiences…. will follow next week! BISOUS!

EDIT: Just to give you a small update on my brunch-experience: The place is really small and cozy, my friend and me even had to sit on the stairs for a bit to wait for a free table. The staff was really nice, english-speaking and you feel very welcome. The brunch we had, the “mini”, was okay (hot beverage + bread + butter + marmelade, more like an ordinary breakfast) but a bit pricy for 10 €. Very delicious was the lavender milk we tried (lavender tee with hot milk)! All together, my friend and me spend 3 hours there and will find our way back soon…
